AWS introduced Nova, its brand‑new multimodal AI model family at re:Invent. The lineup includes four core text‑generation models: Micro, Lite and Pro are already available to AWS customers, while Premier is slated for early‑2025 release. Nova also includes dedicated image‑generation model Nova Canvas and video‑generation model Nova Reel.
Each model in the Nova family serves distinct use‑cases: Micro delivers maximum text‑processing speed; Lite efficiently handles diverse media formats; Pro strikes a strong balance between performance and cost; Premier is optimized for highly complex workloads. Supporting 15 languages, these models power use‑cases ranging from document summarization to meeting transcription.
On the security front, AWS built robust safeguards into Nova, including watermarking and content moderation capabilities, to promote responsible AI usage and curb misinformation.

Generative AI and the Future of Customer Experience
Generative AI was undoubtedly one of re:Invent’s hottest themes. Across more than 500 sessions, generative AI use‑cases spanned every industry. Within customer service specifically, combined with Amazon Connect capabilities, generative AI demonstrated transformative potential for customer journeys.
Tens of thousands of AWS customers rely on Amazon Connect to handle over 10 million contact‑center interactions every single day. Organizations including Frontdoor, Fujitsu, GoStudent, Priceline, Pronetx and the University of Auckland have already adopted Amazon Connect’s new generative‑AI‑powered enhancements to deliver high‑quality customer service at lower costs.
Contact centers face persistent challenges: lifting self‑service resolution rates, fairly evaluating agent performance, and maintaining data‑privacy compliance. Amazon Connect has rolled out key new features to address these pain points.
Generative AI‑powered features
Amazon Connect introduces native generative‑AI capabilities to automate and refine customer interactions, enabling smarter routing and more effective contact‑center operations.
Generative‑AI‑driven customer segmentation & trigger‑based campaigns
Build customer segments using conversational prompts powered by generative AI. Teams can define precise audience groups with plain‑language descriptions, making it simple to identify and target specific customer cohorts. Trigger‑based campaigns let brands engage users based on real‑time customer events such as cart abandonment.

Build conversational AI bots faster with Amazon Q in Amazon Connect
Create, edit and manage Amazon Lex‑backed conversational AI bots directly within the Amazon Connect console. Amazon Q — AWS’s generative‑AI‑powered customer‑service assistant — augments bot capabilities. It now supports end‑user self‑service interactions across IVR and digital channels, while suggesting recommended responses and actions for contact‑center agents.
Built on large‑language‑model (LLM) technology, this integration delivers advanced conversational abilities beyond traditional Amazon Lex voice and chatbots. The system intelligently pulls insights from configured knowledge bases, customer profiles, web resources and third‑party application data to answer customer queries outside predefined intent sets. Administrators can configure custom guardrails per instance to set boundaries for AI outputs and monitor Amazon Q in Connect performance.

Customizable AI Guardrails
Amazon Q in Connect now offers configurable AI guardrails to govern AI‑generated outputs. This allows businesses to safely deploy generative AI within contact centers while enforcing internal policies and protecting customer conversations.
Generative‑AI‑driven insights for contact‑center managers
New AI‑powered contact evaluation and intelligent‑contact‑categorization tools allow managers to automatically review up to 100 % of customer interactions. Teams can quickly spot key trends in customer feedback and identify agent‑coaching opportunities. Managers gain clear visibility into performance patterns to refine training programs and lift overall service quality.
Improved interface and tools
Amazon Connect support for WhatsApp Business Messaging
Native integration with WhatsApp Business Messaging adds another channel to Amazon Connect’s existing stack of voice, SMS, chat and Apple Messages for Business. With Amazon Connect’s omnichannel capabilities, businesses can meet customers on their preferred platforms while retaining unified service delivery and management inside the Amazon Connect environment.

Contact Lens Conversational AI Bot Dashboard
Delivers analytics for monitoring performance of conversational AI bots built on Amazon Connect.
IVR Self‑Service Recordings & Interaction Logs
Provides complete records including audio recordings for all IVR‑based self‑service interactions.
Enhanced Daily Forecasting
Side‑by‑side comparison between current‑day forecasts and prior forecast outputs.
Salesforce Contact Center with Amazon Connect (Preview)
Native integration of Amazon Connect digital channels and unified routing within Salesforce CRM. Enterprises can operate a single routing and workflow engine across Amazon Connect and Salesforce, intelligently directing calls, chats and support cases to appropriate self‑service workflows or agent queues.

Enhanced Chat Security
Secure collection of sensitive customer data during chat interactions
Amazon Connect chat and messaging now include data‑privacy controls for secure handling of sensitive customer information during chat sessions. This feature supports compliance requirements by protecting personally identifiable information (PII) and Payment Card Industry (PCI)‑regulated data.

Streamlined console‑based conversational AI agent management
Create, edit and administer Amazon Lex‑powered conversational AI bots entirely from the Amazon Connect user interface.
These new capabilities will further advance customer experience, enabling more personalized, efficient and proactive customer‑service operations.
Explore Amazon Connect’s latest omnichannel customer‑experience offerings
At 10:30 AM Pacific Time on December 2, Pasquale DeMaio, Vice President & General Manager of Amazon Connect, delivered a keynote featuring DoorDash as a real‑world example of automation and fast‑response customer service built on Amazon Connect.
As one of the largest online food‑ordering and delivery platforms in the United States, DoorDash empowers merchants to thrive in the convenience economy and expands consumer access to local community services. Faced with hundreds of thousands of inbound support calls daily, DoorDash needed to optimize support workflows: help delivery partners resolve common customer questions efficiently, while freeing human agents to focus on high‑complexity cases.
Using Amazon Connect IVR voice input paired with AI models hosted on Amazon Bedrock, DoorDash achieved a 50‑fold improvement in test performance, cut development timelines by 50 %, reduced response latency by 50 % and brought customer response times down to 2.5 seconds.
These technology upgrades drastically lifted self‑service efficiency, shortened time‑to‑resolution and delivered smarter customer experiences for DoorDash users.

Amazon Q in QuickSight: Simplified Data Analytics
Enterprise data lives across many different databases. Teams leverage business‑intelligence tools such as Amazon QuickSight to analyze those datasets. Yet decision‑making often requires insights from sources beyond structured databases: documents, emails, and historical multimedia interactions. Productivity improves significantly when teams can access all these resources in one place.
Amazon Q Business and Amazon Q within QuickSight solve exactly this challenge. Employees can view and analyze all data types seamlessly across both solutions.
Teams can access Amazon Q through multiple interfaces: standalone applications, web‑based access, or custom apps built with Amazon Q Apps. In every scenario, users can view QuickSight charts and visualizations to strengthen data‑driven decision‑making.
